Victims of democracy
Are not only those who are killed on an election day
They’re not only those who are chained for a different thought
They’re the ignorant, the simpletons and the downtrodden
Who believe in every empty word
Repeated and repeated by the same greedy folks
Who call themselves leaders but are raiders
Who see the State as a gold mine
Set aside for them and their cronies to amass
The wealth meant for the masses
And dangle baits at every election
To win another vote or buy their way
These are the victims of democratic power
Those outside the corridors of power.
